I cannot stop laughing!
Now Mitt Romney thinks his healthcare reform shows his charitable heart...his empathy....even though he would like to repeal Obama's and has spent all campaign year trying to dodge his healthcare reform in Mass! Oh this is GOLD! Pure gold! Poor Romney. It is KILLING him that he can't say, "Look at what I did in Mass! I reformed Healthcare! My healthcare program was even a blueprint for Obamacare!" And why can't he say that? The right wingers don't want him to! He is a puppet for them, poor guy. He can't let go of those votes. . . yet I know he would have gotten more votes if he backed up healthcare reform. (He wouldn't have been the Republican candidate, though). A part of me would LOVE to see if, when placed in office, he would actually repeal it. My heart wants to say he wouldn't...but I am not willing to risk it. :)
Get ready to laugh...bc I sure did! hahahahaha...I still am. Too good. Politicians!!! Can't live with them...can't laugh without them. (I still miss Palin....bc I laughed much harder last election---if you can call her a real politician. I can't wait to see that HBO movie, BTW. Click HERE for trailer).
Click HERE for the article I am referencing.
(I will restrain from talking about how he is trying to use his time as a bishop to boast and build himself up--when we all know we are not special or gifted bc of our calling....but the spirit allows us to do what we otherwise could not do ourselves. But since this is in paragraphs...I am not really discussing that comment which Romney made in that article).
UPDATE: Here is Romney's record and "love/hate relationship with Obamacare."
This is my political sacred place. A place for this "1MormonDemocrat" who currently lives in Utah to breathe...aaah, relief! Thanks for visiting! I would love to see your comments!

Utah 4th District Debate between Mia Love and Jim Matheson: KUTV & Salt ...
I cannot express how upset Bryson and I got hearing Mia Love speak! UGH! And I am not even a huge fan of Matheson--though I thin he is the best choice. I am not a huge fan bc he is an extremely moderate Democrat. I do certainly hope he maintains his seat. He is not on my ballot. But any idiot can see that he is the one with experience. Mia Love's not ready, ill equipped (even if you agree with her on policies).

Mitt Romney's Education Record in Massachusetts
My previous post on this did not upload...so my only comment will be that this is yet another example of Romney saying what people want to hear and then doing the exact opposite bc...he can. Education is a KEY component to America's future...and though we need to re-budget some things...it should not be our schools and our children who suffer for the failings of the politicians. Regardless of which side you are on in this Presidential race...we should all agree that education should not be the first of those 1000's of programs to be cut...and yet, Romney's track record indicates that education is not important to him (if it is not his kids and family) and so it is one we can most definitely expect he will not be hesitant to cut federal spending allocated to states in that area.

Redistribution...hot topic
Redistribute to lower classes and working families...or redistribute up...to the wealthy.
Basically the difference between Romney and Obama.

SO many new posts...another article...it is a nice peaceful one..I promise
This blog post was written by a BYU Professor. Click Here. "Two Good Men."
Awkward moments...and "Romney Style" capitalism
Here is an article I read today...it is totally biased...but would love any responses on it. My response on it...I can't believe that we as a society praise men for doing whatever needs to be done in order to gain wealth...it doesn't add up to me. Probably why I could never be in business! But more so...this brought on the question of how programs for the poor or the elderly are being seen as hand outs...or making people dependent on the government. Included in this group of self-entitled individuals...according to Romney and his supporters are those with mentally or physically handicapped children...these families are often the recipients of government assistance bc of the overly exhaustive costs of care. Really...these are self-entitled individuals...people not taking responsibility for themselves? And yet we praise those who do what they can bc they can to make millions. It just makes me so emotional. This leads me to the recent video released which was a fund raiser opp. where Romney revealed how he feels about men and women who live on social security, or these families with loved ones unable to take care of themselves or the working class...even the very poor. Here is the only place I found the video--I didn't read the article...just watch the video. Oh I need a break!
Be nice, Emily...Be nice...(so hard)....he is not a bad person...just not the right man for presidency...
Ok I feel better. :)
This article was informative about Romney's job at Bain Capital based on a Rolling Stone article....it helps in understanding Romney's view of Americans...and the recent video.
What the video says:
He doesn't care about the vote from the 47% who "don't take responsibility for themselves" and who "think of themselves as victims." Mind boggling! Horrible campaigning...I feel bad for Romney...he is just so obviously unfit for the job. Poor guy. He is such a nice guy--aside from politics...:/ awkward...he wants to be the next PRESIDENT...awkward....so awkward. Speaking of awkward...did anyone see the video of Romney with the veteran who asked him about gay rights? AWKWARD!
He has so many awkward moments...it is so sad. I really do... putting sarcasm aside...feel bad for the guy and the people who staunchly support him. He just doesn't have good campaigning sense...or a good campaign team. I know I have said that before...but it is true. I will be UTTERLY baffled if he even gets close to being elected.

And the reason for it...They don't believe "that Barack is as smart as you media elitists keep insisting he is." This was said by the website offering a reward for the transcripts....I have said it before and I'll say it again..."People are crazy." I think people need to stop relying on the info at our tips..and start using their own brain...just sayin.

I am grateful for our Prophet and apostles
I just wanted to say that I am very grateful for the apostles and prophets. I am grateful that there are such worthy men in the world who can receive guidance for us on behalf of our Heavenly Father. Today I missed most of Regional Conference and I am really sad that I wasn't there. Dalin H. Oaks spoke. He spent the last 6 mins of his talk speaking about things that I thought were worth noting:
*Conduct political discussion in a civil manner.
*We want our members to "participate in the political process in an informed manner and by ALL means to vote."
*We are all daughters and sons of the same Heavenly Father and that comes first and should reach over all boundaries.
*Recent political events have made the church a spotlight more so than ever before. Though there have been many truthful and positive articles and things that have come forth, some of the things mentioned on the news and in other places are not true.
* But the church does not intervene and set people straight during political campaigns bc doing so might encourage an affiliation with one candidate over another. And the church does not support one candidate more than another.
*Some doctrine is used inaccurately by members--I will quote this part: "..The influence of right wing groups who mistakenly apply prophesies about the last days to promote efforts to form para military or militia organizations. Such groups might undermine authority of public officials in the event of extra ordinary emergencies or even in the cases of disagreement with government public policy.
*The leaders of the church have always taught that we should observe the law...we counsel against joining para military organizations.. . The church has counseled the storage of food and water not the storage of arms and ammunition" (laughter in the crowd). ---But I KNOW people who have tried to argue with me that arms and ammunition are necessary for the last days! So I am so glad that he reassured me there.
*Marital counseling is good as long as they are professional and are in line with the gospel principles.
Isn't that interesting? I really found it uplifting and refreshing to hear him take the time at the end of his talk to focus on those few things--things at the forefront of our minds--at least mine. I find it disturbing however that there are people in Utah County participating in their own military organizations---um, yikes! But glad he said something, since that is going on! Also, the marital counseling thing was interesting...and I am not sure what it was in regards to--but someone knows, I am sure.
I have engaged in many political discussions and I find new resolve to insure that it remains civil. It is easy to get overly emotional...I always check with the people I talk to to make sure they don't get emotional about it...or my opinion if it differs with theirs...but that is why blogging about politics is easier bc we don't risk getting overly emotional and hurting one another over dumb politics! Well...I guess that is still a risk...but we can think about what to say before we speak out of emotions. :)

How I see it...Foreign Policy
First of all I agree with this statement on CNN regarding Romney's quick to attack comments on the recent embassy attacks:
Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg of New Jersey said he stands with the Obama administration in condemning the attacks and offering condolences to the affected families, but pointed to Romney's comments as undermining the country on an international stage.
"At a time when we should be standing together against these senseless acts of violence, Mitt Romney offered an atrocious political response that undermines our unity in the face of threats to Americans around the world," said Lautenberg in a statement about the attacks.
I feel like Romney is clueless. I don't mean to be disrespectful...hear me out. I think that he has no idea that the people advising him are corrupt. They are wrong...they are disturbing. They are scary. He needs a new team. He blindly follows his campaign team and advice...and I plan to find out who these people are. We need to know their names....for future candidates...to know who not to trust. I do not think that Romney is a selfish or evil person. I think he likes himself...but is he this stage seeker? To gain a vote at any costs? It seems to everyone else that he is. Maybe now I am being naive, but I don't think it is the candidate, it is his team...bc I think he is clueless...but what is worse? There is no way this man (Romney) could handle being President. On the other hand....maybe he does inform himself...maybe he does know the facts and yet he chooses to use these embassy attacks as a means to divide the country further and to try to "one up" the President. Sad. Either way...it is sad to me. Sad that a grown man should ever allow himself to allow people around him decide important factors when trying to become the leader of the free world. And sad if this man whom I do have the bond of religion with...the unspoken Mormon bond and understanding....would stoop so low...and would use the death of others as a political stage. Is anyone else thinking about the Book of Mormon when the Nephites allow for Gadianton robbers to be a part of their government...just saying. :) I again say, I do not believe it is Romney who is corrupt...but his campaign team.
(Are you confused...Get the facts...click here). The embassy was trying to defuse the crowds for fear of it getting out of control...and released a statement condemning the hatred shown (but not naming the film about)...in addition the statements were changed after the attacks were made and included that the attacks were also condemned. Furthermore, the Ambassador was in Washington and did not sign off on those statements. Obama did not make a statement before Romney was so quick to attack.
Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations committee, said Wednesday while departing an intelligence briefing that Romney's comments were "about as inappropriate as anything I've ever seen at this kind of moment" calling on the GOP candidate to apologize.
"They are flat wrong. They demonstrate an insensitivity and a lack of judgment about what is happening now," said Kerry. "To make those kinds of statements before you even know the facts, before families have even been notified, before things have played out, is really not just inexperienced, it's irresponsible, it's callous, it's reckless. And I think he ought to apologize and I don't think he knows what he's talking about frankly. It's that simple."
I think that is just it...Romney did not know what he was talking about. Again, Obama is the right man for foreign policy. When he doesn't have the facts...he gets the facts! He doesn't base his firm statements of foreign policy on hearsay from a political staff hired to get him elected. Obama leads in way that I respect. He does not as he said in criticism of Romney's quick attacks, "shoot first and aim later" as Romney does. He is very thoughtful and direct. He makes direct and important...even risky decisions when he needs to. As with the way in which they pursued and took down Bin Laden. It was risky, but he weighed the options and he was decisive and it paid off. He is the leader I will back up...and how can anyone argue that Romney has any ability in foreign diplomacy or foreign policy!?
Romney you made us miss a chance at coming together and becoming not Republican-Americans, not Democratic-Americans....but simply Americans....united when there was a hateful attack on our country.
We should be coming together....we should be saying "a man of ours and our embassy was attacked!" Let us come together. Don't try to divide us bc it is your chance for a campaign soundbite! That is selfish. You asked for the backlash you have received...don't think you can regain ground on foreign policy...stick with your economy platform of smoke and mirrors. Many Republicans have distanced themselves from these statements made by Romney...Can I get a Republican party and a Democratic party "Amen?!"

Something Republicans and Democrats can agree on!
I can't believe this happens in my country and that big events such as the RNC and the DNC are reasons for much more human trafficking to take place! We should all be outraged at this! We need political leaders to stand up for things like this! Makes me sick. click here for the article.

Made the church in spotlight....I love that people are interested in my religion now...more than ever! It is good for the church, I think.

Romney is where he is today bc of Government "hand outs."
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/09/05/romney_mexican/
I have to warn you the link is much more hateful towards Mitt Romney than I am...but the info is there and his own mother is on video stating the word "welfare" in describing how his own family benefited from the US.
It is telling of a man's character when he says things along the lines of "We do not want people dependent on government handouts or to be entitled to receive help from BIG GOVERNMENT." You have heard the words said by countless Republicans and Romney. But in reality those "handouts" helped his family. His grandparents and parents worked hard for his family and his father and he profited from his struggle. This is why I support welfare programs...giving people the chance to come to America and thereby live their own American dream. Romney how dare you deny and essentially bite the hand that fed you...the government programs that allowed your family to prosper. One can only imagine where the Romney family would have been had it not been for compassion and humanity.

Best Speech thus far: Clinton
Here are just a few highlights of the hour long speech, "Now listen bc this is important" :) :
"We believe 'we're all in this together' is a far better philosophy than you're on your own...I want to nominate a man who's cool on the outside but burns for America on the inside."
Later he says:
"No president, not me or any of my predecessors, could have repaired all the damage in just four years..."
"He inherited a deeply damaged economy," Clinton said of Obama, "put a floor under the crash, began the long, hard road to recovery and laid the foundation for a more modern, more well-balanced economy that will produce millions of good new jobs, vibrant new businesses, and lots of new wealth for the innovators."

Are Obama's taxes really going to hit wealthy THAT hard?
No. An extra $5000 is nothing to people making between $250-500,000. I don't get why there is so much whining about it! The people just below that bracket would pay about an extra $500....and then below that...nothing extra. Stop whining about taxing the rich!
Still Voting For 'Mitt Romney'? This is old...but definitely interesting.
So funny it is a Ron Paul ad.
What I didn't like about the DNC
1. This is not at the DNC but it was the ad that implied that Romney allowed a company to fail only to watch a man and his wife suffer. This man and his wife lost insurance and she then died bc of cancer. I don't like that the strong implication is that Romney indirectly stood back and watched this woman die and this man suffer bc of her illness and death. However, it is a GREAT talking point for Romney's beliefs that the housing market needs to bottom out and the American Car industry needs to tank. It is also a good lead into the need for health care reform and pre-existing conditions, and how if you have ever had cancer you will not be able to get insurance coverage again.
2. I did not like the constant joking about the Swiss and Cayman bank accounts. It was funny, but over done. And although true...kinda unnecessary to keep digging at it.
3. I did not like that a few of the speakers took the bait from Republican speeches and made some or part of their speech negative just to feed into this years RNC. I do not think they bashed Romney NEARLY as much as they bashed Obama...but I would have LOVED a clear cut "higher road" taken by all the speakers at the DNC.
4. I did not like that it was not longer...and I cannot wait for more! I also can't wait for the debates! Fun, fun!

How I feel Romney has changed in order to be Rep Candidate:
In the DNC you heard a lot that implied that Romney does not have the integrity he claims. I feel like his past is pretty squeaky clean...though some things can be seen as unpatriotic and or questionable ways of growing his wealth. I kinda feel like he is a little greedy. But not necessarily greedy for wealth. He is greedy for Presidency. Sure he loves money...but he has done well to make his money--I don't necessarily agree with how he made it---by putting others out of jobs and profiting on businesses that fail. Nevertheless what he did was not illegal.
But speaking of business I would like to compare Romney with someone I once worked with. We will call her "Pat." Pat was well respected at our place of business. She was redeemed by others as being a devoted Mormon. Then I came. My boss transferred me to Pat's location, when my boss was reassigned there. I took this as a compliment, and it was closer to home, so it seemed like a great idea. Upon my arrival I was pegged as unqualified, too young, etc by Pat and her "followers." It was months of constant back and forth in which Pat would claim I did something I did not, or would try to point out "failures" of mine and ways in which she herself would do the job better. Nevertheless, my boss stood by me and knew the truth. In retrospect I was too NICE. I wish I would have called her out, but I didn't want to make a reason for her and others to not like me. I continued to be polite and respectful, and for that I am proud of myself. I did finally have enough with the lies, however, and I told Pat that if she has issues with my work to come directly to me instead of going around my back and up to my boss. For a while it stopped. I felt relieved. Then I went on maternity leave. And it started again, but with a different approach. A whole conspiracy theory broke out. Pat had somehow talked one of my employees into doing the dirty work for her and she would tell lies to my boss about my work ethic, my training of her, etc. Luckily I had documentation to back up my word and a good track record. This supervisor who worked for me also requested Pat become her manager instead of me. Cheap shots considering I was on maternity leave and was not there to defend myself. My boss had me come in and we talked about it. Not once was my boss wavered (to my knowledge). She told me Pat always wanted my job and was against me from the beginning bc my boss had me transferred to fill the position she wanted. Others, who were not members of my church also mentioned to me that she was acting out of character, and that she used to be such a kind and religious person, but somehow she let work place politics become her priority.
You may have figured it out that Pat in this scenario is Romney. I am worried that Romney has lost sight of the important things and even though his hands have only smudges on them, he has allowed others to get buckets of blood on their hands. He has allowed getting elected become more important than his integrity. He lets others do the dirty work just like Pat had my supervisor under my management do the dirty work for her. I have many personal experiences with others who basically trod their values and people who stand for those values under their hooves in order to get the end goal. It is unfortunate and disappointing to witness. Romney has made mistakes by allowing others to engage in deceitful acts with advertising, speeches, and all the lies we have seen over the past several weeks. I understand that politics is not a place for civilized men to engage in unbiased and unselfish work in order to do the greater good...oh wait! It should be! But no people lie and cheat just like children at recess playing school yard games. It is sad. But what is even more sad to me is to see Romney get lost in the middle of it.
At the DNC there was a fair share of exaggeration...but I only found one lie thus far: the one in which it was claimed that insurers will pay a refund if 50% of premiums are not used...but it is really 80%.
So beside the fact that I cannot currently wrap my mind around the Republican platform and the ideals and values they say they stand for, but actions indicate they do not; and beside the fact that I am aligned about 75-80% with Democrats...I still was hoping for more from Romney. I was hoping that maybe, just maybe he would prove to have backbone and integrity to speak up for what is right.
Remember McCain when that elderly woman said she was fearful of Obama and the fact that his was a Muslim---or something along those lines---and how McCain immediately dismissed her comment and said he was a good man? I have NEVER heard that from Romney. The Democrats have said it over and over...that Romney is a good man, he is a good father and husband, his tithing is remarkable and respectable. He has received all of that...but when people still question Obama's birth location what does Romney do? He uses it by saying, "Nobody questions where I was born!" Character. It is lacking with Romney.
4 more years....please!
***Update. I am finding more and more lies directly from Romney...so he definitely has blood on his hands. Clear cut election in my eyes.

Family First
I support you President Obama. I agree that the time in your life when your girls are growing up is very important. I agree that you would be obligated as a father and husband to respectfully decline social events bc your job as a father is the most important job you can have....even beats out being a well socialized President of the United States. The fact that Republicans are criticizing your conscious effort to be a better father than you ever had is very sad.
What a frustrating job to constantly hold your hand out to Republicans and reach across party lines to only have them then say that bc you would not have a few drinks and socialize with them and other members of Congress that that is somehow indicative of how well they will work with you. Republicans decided before Obama even took office that their own political safety (for re-election) was more important than being able to work together and better our country.
Such a shame and disappointment.
I really hope that we will see more politicians step up and want to be elected who are willing to work together. I think we need a complete overhaul in Congress and get rid of everyone and start over with....well, there are probably no people running for an elected office without other personal agendas! What happened to pride in working for a country you love?
Such a shame and disappointment.
That is the hope I have for my children. That this country will find a way to set their own political parties and agendas aside and vote for people who will do what the American people ask them! Maybe the next generation will have more luck...Keep your eye out for up and coming elected officials with no strings attached to them! I know I will....Republican, Independent or Democrat, if you can work with others and if you can listen to those who elected you, I will vote for you.
As for President Obama....keep being a great Dad during a time in yours and your daughters' lives that you cannot ever get back. Family first always. And keep working hard at breaking down walls of stubborn opposition in Congress and otherwise, and keep being our President.
