How discouraging to see Speaker Boehner say that "Obamacare" needs to be on the table for compromise in the "fiscal cliff" discussion.....umm....WHAT?! This guy is either a complete moron, he has selective amnesia and forgot what happened this election, or he is just working for his own personal agenda....and not concerned about what will happen if they do not come to an agreement---huh...maybe all 3? It is said that they will still have time to fix the problem if we do do fall off that fiscal cliff....but come on!!! This is getting ridiculous...as if it already wasn't. Ha! But I think we can all agree as Americans that many of these men are not working for the people...every poll I have seen says the people want higher taxes on the wealthy as part of this fiscal agenda...in addition...NO polls indicate that Obamacare should be thrown in for compromise on raising those taxes on the top 2%! It is just ridiculous.
I am reading "Team of Rivals" and it is amazing the platform Republicans had when the party started and how it has completely changed. I would have been a Republican in the 1850-1860's! :) haha. But the Republican party today is....struggling! I wish there was a way to speed track the party's recovery and have a more balanced society once more. I don't think everyone should be a Democrat...there needs to be balance...but our current teeter-tottering is not healthy for America. We have extreme right wingers sending us all in an uncontrollable spin...in my opinion.
We need to nominate more moderate people...and yes, Pres. Obama a decade or more ago would have been considered moderate...even to Republicans...but today he is considered to be extreme?! He is not. He is moderate. There has not been a moderate Republican in public eye for some time...I think McCain was probably the most moderate...and he was only moderate on social issues.
Come on Speaker Boehner and men and women in congress...get this thing done!! And Mr. President we are counting on you to show both compromise and backbone. A tough thing to do but I am sure if ego is set aside every elected official could achieve it for the good of the rest of Americans.
