Sandy
I just have to say I am so so so very glad that President Obama is in the white house and not some Bush clone who wants to take Federal funding for natural disasters away and make it state funded or privatize it....I don't even know how privatizing it can even pretend to be highly effective...but I think both private and federal and state are necessary during disasters! You can't take such a narrow view...
And I might add...Is it immoral, Governor? How is it NOT immoral to say that there will be no help from federal funding during natural disasters!? Again...I do NOT understand this perspective!!Click HERE to see video of Mitt Romney regarding this...

POWERFUL!
This is so powerful...not only does Colin Powell endorse Obama...but Col. Wilkerson makes some candid claims of which I have always noted privately to others...bc as soon as you say it to the President's opposers they jump all over you...but I teared up by this mans poignant words and his candidness. I am grateful for this republican who is willing to stand up for the truth of what has been going on in Congress. http://tv.msnbc.com/2012/10/26/colin-powells-former-chief-of-staff-my-party-is-full-of-racists/

Romney! You support this GUY!!!??? What will be next!!?
****Update! Romney STILL stands behind this guy...shocked! Tod Akin was asked to step down, and was not supported....but this man can say what he wants about rape and still Romney supports him.****
I have to assume Romney is ignorant of the fact that he chose to support a man who could be possible of believing that pregnancy because of rape is "a gift." What a moron this Mourdock is!!! But add him to the list of extremists in which the Republican party keeps nominating!!! It is crazy!!! Ryan is another extremist...and Romney has during this campaign embraced many policies which are extreme...yet in his own words he seems to shy away from.
I have seen the video and even though Mourdock seems to come at the topic in a level headed manner...stating, "It is something I have struggled with..." he then goes on to add..."even when life begins in this horrible situation it is something God intended." So wrong! God NEVER intends for his daughters to be raped. He just does not prevent us from using our free agency...and though I realize this man obviously does not realize the real plan...God's plan for each one of us...how dare he say that women should not be allowed to decide in this instance if the burden is too great for them. Having a child should be joyous and exciting...not traumatic and mentally and emotionally staggering. How dare all these men decide for we "little women" in our "weaker sex" who obviously are not intellectual enough to make our own decisions! Silly, silly fools!
I have no idea why this gets me so upset. But I am strong woman. I love my husband and other good men...but men like this that take it upon themselves to say that they should decide for women what they can or cannot do with their bodies and their lives...it enrages me!
Governor Romney...I hope you will retract your statement of supporting this man...as others have decided to go against Tod Akin in your party...with his absurd comment on rape. What is with these men thinking they can comment on rape!!!???
Here is Romney's endorsement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onHSC_VQra4
Here is the Youtube video of Mourdock's statement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7jvuL6kXk0
Here is Todd Akin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEz3c3R9gTg
I apologize that the videos are not ideal....I only watched the first part of Akins and it had the part note worhty of what he said.
Now I know why some people choose to be labeled conservative and not republican...That trend is catching on...bc in my opinion they are ashamed of their own party. I am starting to feel like it is a Republican epidemic! What is wrong with these men? I was glad that people stood up against Tod Akin...I hope more Republicans will do the same with this man.
Click HERE for a nice little chart of Republican Representatives and rape comments
We are not talking about personal opinion....this is their perspective on policies they want to pass! Republicans want to over turn Roe v Wade (Something the LDS church does not encourage), they want to be in control of women bc they feel they are right. Well, those Christian crusaders felt they were doing right, too...didn't they? Just because you label something "pro-life" or "Christian" does not mean that is at all what it is.
Nobody is "Pro-abortion." Nobody wants someone to be in that situation or to go through that. It is a horrible thing to happen to the woman, or the unborn child. But it is not something government should stand between the woman and her physician over. These men say they are "pro-life" but what about the life of that mother?! If she was to be at risk they would not be "pro-life" for her life. This woman is so brave to speak out on this subject...http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82652.html Click here. Jackie Speier...a lawmaker who had to have an abortion in order to save her life. These instances still happen today. We cannot vote in people who will allow for the law to come between a woman and her physician.
I am ALL for educating young women who have unwanted pregnancies...and inform them about the loving couples and families who would be overjoyed by this sweet baby. This young woman would probably be much happier and much better off mentally, spiritually and in every way to place this baby in a loving home through adoption. Educating these young women...finding ways for them to be able to afford their pregnancies...these are things we should be advocates for; we should not be taking obscure stance of what "legitimate rape" is or that rape is what "God intended."

Well...Romney is not lying...AS MUCH...
Mr. President KILLED it last night! Very proud of him!
Final Debate score: The President--2, Romney--1. I think that is about the election...2/3. Mr. President HAS to win this election!
Here is yet another endorsement: http://www.newyorker.com/talk/comment/2012/10/29/121029taco_talk_editors?mobify=0
It is a beautifully written article which expresses exactly my perspective. So happy when I find articles and others with my same perspective. "Perspective" has absolutely been the focus of my thoughts lately...it is so interesting and complex...one's perspective. You can experience the same exact thing and yet your perspective and interpretation is completely different from someone else. So fascinating!
Anyway. Way to go Mr. President! You pulled through for us and I know you have the best interest of the country at heart and you have been working to clean up the disaster we were in 4 years ago...foreign policy and respect was shameful under Bush's reign....you fixed it! The economy was headed for a depression...you got us moving forward and we are much better off than 4 years ago! Thank you President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, for your sacrifice and passion for this country. Some people's "perspective" is very skewed and they cannot see your efforts, your successes and the importance of keeping moving forward and keeping you in office 4 more years...but I see it. Whoever is President and wins this election, this country is still great! But I fear the inevitable recession if Romney is President, I fear the over turning of the Affordable Care Act....
I think we got this...I agree with the best that you will probably win---60-70% chance of winning....but that doesn't mean I will stop talking about it...until you are elected.
Good job last night, Mr. President! I always said you are MUCH better at foreign policy than Mitt Romney...and you proved that in your debate last night...whether people chose to listen or not. You did.
I just want to also add....that my interpretation of the 2 men...when Romney was speaking, the President listened and even softened physically in his face when he agreed with the Governor...but when the President was speaking...Romney was glazed over and smirky, thinking about what he was going to say, and not listening. I think this is a "tell" as in poker...you sure can "tell" :) a lot by these small things....but ultimately the facts are still on the President's side.
TOP 5 highlights of the final debate:
5. "Me too!" Romney said he agreed with almost everything the President has done in foreign policy---of course he does! Just surprised he admits that.
4. The President's rebuttal on Romney's egregious claim that the President went on an "apology tour"--they were sure hoping for a sound bite with that term---the President's response was so real, and organic...made me tear up! I haven't done that with other debates...not like in 2008! "He's back!" He brought it last night, like no other night.
3. "Governor, 1980 called and they want their foreign policy back." haha! Romney has recently stated that Russia is the biggest threat...at the debate he changed it to Al Qaeda and the President congratulated him on that.
2. "Governor you keep wanting to air brush history..." The last 2 elections the Republican party has proven that they think American's are stupid...and that we don't check what they say with the facts...why?! BC Bush got away with WAR...and his claims of "weapons of mass destruction." It is evident Romney thinks we are not intelligent enough to see that he is lying, waffling...doing what he can to get votes...Of course many do believe his words as soon as he says them...there is a blind trust and it is sickening.
1. "We can't just go and kill all the bad guys and solve all the problems, Mr President," (paraphrase), Mr Romney said...2 minutes later, "I will go and kill the bad guys." Oh the waffling of our dear Brother Romney.
I think my favorite of the night was just seeing the President BRING it...he was himself and was ready and he is passionate. His loathing stares at Mr. Romney as he continued to lie and attempt to deceive Americans...adn then there were moments when his face softened when Romney would go on about how he agreed with the President and how he wanted world peace (maybe he thinks this is a pageant, not an election)...but the President shows that he listens and he will stand up for truth and reject game playing.
I need to check the facts that are probably everywhere this morning.....I will post if there are some note worthy "whoppers."

I completely agree...Mitt Romney seems to be a good man...but he also means what he says behind closed doors..
"I believe in self-reliance and individual initiative and risk takers
being rewarded. But I also believe that everybody should have a fair
shot and everybody should do their fair share and everybody should play
by the same rules, because that's how our economy's grown. That's how we
built the world's greatest middle class.
And -- and that is part of what's at stake in this election. There's a fundamentally different vision about how we move our country forward.
I believe Governor Romney is a good man. Loves his family, cares about his faith. But I also believe that when he said behind closed doors that 47 percent of the country considered themselves victims who refuse personal responsibility, think about who he was talking about.
Folks on Social Security who've worked all their lives. Veterans who've sacrificed for this country. Students who are out there trying to hopefully advance their own dreams, but also this country's dreams. Soldiers who are overseas fighting for us right now. People who are working hard every day, paying payroll tax, gas taxes, but don't make enough income.
And I want to fight for them. That's what I've been doing for the last four years. Because if they succeed, I believe the country succeeds." (President Obama, Second Presidential Debate).
I completely agree, Mr. President. And I know that the President loves this country...he cares about the middle class...he wants a brighter future for us all. Sure he makes mistakes...but he does his job without a personal agenda...he wants this job and wants to keep this job bc he is passionate, does a great job and deserves to finish what he has started. Romney does not have any interest in energy solutions, growing the middle class, or keeping our jobs in America. All I can see he cares about is his family and getting elected to be President. Well, being a family man is commendable...but it does not help much in the White House. And though I believe we should elect men who prove they have good personal lives...it should not be all we care about...imagine if you were asked about your marriage and family at a job interview. Faith and family should not be a criteria for being President...yet we are lucky to have 2 men who are both strong in faith and gratitude to God and 2 men who have wonderful families. It should not dictate a vote...the man who can do the job and who has the best interest for the safety, prosperity and rights of Americans (ALL 100% of Americans), that is the man we should keep in that chair...The seat is taken, Mr. Romney.

President Obama Accuses GOP Rival of 'Romnesia'
President Obama Accuses GOP Rival of 'Romnesia': ABCNEWS.COM - Democrat rallies supporters at George Mason University in Virginia.
UT District 3
Click here to hear from Soren Simonsen...I have talked to him via facebook...he is a great guy! I really like him! He is new in running for this office...that is why you haven't heard about him before...but he is currently the chair of SLC council.
What he wants to focus on:
1. Ethics Reform...one being with campaign and how we fund elections.
2. Tolerance and moderateness
3. Enviroment in and out of the city (out of the city the goal is to protect agriculture, for example).
Local issues:
At the top of his list is air quality and public transportation in UT...which he knows a lot about!
Soren Simonsen is an architect who moved to Utah from Austin, Texas.
(I typed up all this info on him and why he is better than Chaffetz and my WEB browser crashed! UGH)!
Please look into it yourself! But I really trust this guy. I think we need to really get people who will work for us...who have our vision of our community and who will fight for us. Simonsen has no agenda. He has no parties backing him up with money and lobbying for him. He is squeaky clean from all that worries us and bothers us about people in Washington! And not only that, but he says it is on his agenda when elected to fight for more ethical ways of campaigning! I think no matter what party you are in UT...you have to realize that Democrats here are not far "lefters"! They are not the Democrats I would support normally! haha. But I really like this guy! I feel like he is very non partisan and driven by ethics and a love for UT and this nation. I encourage you to try to contact him on fb or on his website and you will find out that he is a great guy!
I really like him from the small conversations on fb I have had with him and all he seems to stand for. Seems like a really level headed and nice guy. He said he doesn't want to raise a lot of money or lobby for corporation's to support him, he wants people to save their money and he will reach out to us through social media and the like. Refreshing!! Look for him on facebook! Here is his website. http://www.sorensimonsen.com/
Vote for him if you are in district 3!!!! He is awesome and has great morals!
If you are in the district 4: Matheson vs. Mia Love...(Which I think some of my neighbors think is our district..haha....bc Mia Love is a Mayor of Saratoga Springs):
Even though I have my beef with Matheson and I feel like he is not as "left" or "liberal" as I would like...he is far more centrist than Mia Love who is such an extremist! I wish I could like her...I know why GOP is pulling for her this election bc she is matching up with a much more moderate Matheson (since the districts changed). She also would add a dash of diversity to the Republican party bc she is Mormon, black and a woman! So she has received a lot of money and backing from the GOP and her agendas for SLC and Utah are obscured by her own agendas and career. This is what we want to stay away from! Matheson has done a good job and he deserves to keep his seat. He is a smart guy, went to Harvard, and he is an energy specialist...he also is LDS and has good values and ethics (as most of our people up for election of our religion claim--but I think we should avoid voting on people's faith). Mia Love has a lot of support...but they don't really know the facts on this woman. She wants to slowly raise taxes...she likes to spend (and had a deficit in Saratoga Springs). She does not represent what she really values...but has tried to piggy back on the (Utah) popular Romney campaign in order to win votes.

Romney! Good News! The President says you are covered!
"If you come down with a case of Romnesia,"
the president said, "and you can't seem to remember the policies that
are still on your website or the promises you have made over the six
years you have been running for president, here is the good news:
Obamacare covers pre-existing conditions. We can fix you up. We've got a
cure."
Fact Check! Second Debate
Romney was much more careful this time...fewer lies BY FAR from the first debate...but his math is quite questionable! See this Click here
For full details on these and other claims in this spin-filled debate, along with links to original sources and full source citations, please read on to our Analysis section.
See the highlighted areas...bullet point 3 and 6...which one would you rather be your President? Someone who can't count and sees 500,000 the same as 93,000 or someone who had a verbage issue in repeating his opponents humorous (for lack of a better "nice" term) energy analysis.
93,000 is a lot of women out of work....but there could have been more had we gone into a depression...what would have been eminent with someone like Romney in the White House.
Furthermore, windmills and solar panels won't power the economy...but investing in green energy creates jobs...and if we really try we could once again be the leader in something...instead of sending everything...all the businesses and opportunities to other nations...or depending on them for our own energy.
HOW CAN SOMEONE VOTE ROMNEY!????!!!!???!?!!!??!!!?? It just boggles my mind!
Here is a summary:

Obama and Romney continue false, misleading attacks in second debate.

The second Obama-Romney debate was heated, confrontational and full of claims that sometimes didn’t match the facts.- Obama challenged Romney to “get the transcript” when Romney questioned the president’s claim to have spoken of an “act of terror” the day after the slaying of four Americans in Libya. The president indeed referred to “acts of terror” that day, but then refrained from labeling it a terrorist attack.
- Obama claimed Romney once called Arizona’s “papers, please” immigration law a “model” for the nation. He didn’t. Romney said that of an earlier Arizona law requiring employers to check the immigration status of employees.
- Obama falsely claimed Romney once referred to wind-power jobs as “imaginary.” Not true. Romney actually spoke of “an imaginary world” where “windmills and solar panels could power the economy.”
- Romney said repeatedly he won’t cut taxes for the wealthy, a switch from his position during the GOP primaries, when he said the top 1 percent would be among those to benefit.
- Romney said “a recent study has shown” that taxes “will” rise on the middle class by $4,000 as a result of federal debt increases since Obama took office. Not true. That’s just one possible way debt service could be financed.
- Romney claimed 580,000 women have lost jobs under Obama. The true figure is closer to 93,000.
- Romney claimed the automakers’ bankruptcy that Obama implemented was “precisely what I recommend.” Romney did favor a bankruptcy followed by federal loan guarantees, but not the direct federal aid that Obama insists was essential.
- Romney said he would keep Pell Grants for low-income college students “growing.” That’s a change. Both Romney and his running mate, Ryan, have previously said they’d limit eligibility.

Mr. President...President Obama...thank you for being present last night at the debate! You take the win!!!
Click here for full debate and transcript.
I am so confident that Mr. President realized how he needed to bring his energy to the debate this time. I understand his loathing for his opponent...I would, too...if I did not have that dang Mormon code of loyalty that keeps me from trashing the guy! But I suppose that is how it should always be. I have defended both Ann and Mitt Romney in recent weeks as the campaign gets more and more heated going into election night...but that DOES NOT MEAN I support them and their stance on ANY issues...nor do I support the way Romney tends to try to use his years as a missionary and as a "pastor" to boast of himself. It is personally offensive...and I do believe it is only bc his campaign says he should remind people of his faith...bc he has proven to be hesitant on discussing it....again, though....this is an area he proves he gives in and does what people tell him to do, instead of going with his original instinct to keep his religion out of the campaign.
Anyway...
The debate was AWESOME and very enjoyable! I loved the VP debate...but this topped it!!!
Some points I loved:
1. When Romney was corrected by Crowley that the President DID say that the attacks were acts of terrorism...people have made this a ridiculous talking point! The President LOVES this country, has proven that THROUGH and WITH his foreign policy...and it should not even be a point of conversation...but extreme rights love to twist the truth to mean a 180 from reality!
2. I loved how well the President presented his on-going budget plan and moving forward with specifics...and how Romney yet again sang that song..."Take a chance on me!" Romney wants us to gamble like he does, "Bet you $10,000!" haha. Who makes bets of $10,000!!! During a cmapaign! In front of people with not enough money to bet $100! Well, Romney, I am not a gambling person...so I will not gamble on you, even though you make a good pair of dice...flip-flopping, flop-flipping...you are not a good bet. And the future of our nation should not be gambled with.
3. I loved how strong Mr. President was with Immigration and how Romney pulled stuff out of the sky...like stapling a green card to people who are educated in our country to stay here and get American jobs...how about we focus on educating our American people to get those jobs?! Though I am liberal with Immigration...Romney just does not seem to get it...and the Romney father was NOT Mexican...or a Mexican Immigrant! He keeps trying to imply that...when in fact we all know the truth.
4. I loved how Pres. Obama set the record straight time and again throughout the debate...Too many to list! (Romneycare = Obamacare, tax plan, energy plans, regulations, etc).
5. I love how Romney bellowed into the mic that "Government does not create jobs!" When in fact they do help create jobs...and his WHOLE campaign is based on his claim that he "wants to create jobs" and "will create jobs"...and I am all about jobs." What?!! Who are you!!? He was totally flustered...but it is like he doesn't have a firm grip on where he stands...just that he has to be loud and assertive and the American people will buy it....I haven't from day one...and I hope those who have so far have changed their opinion--at least slightly--on Romney's ability to be a leader.
That was some GREAT TV! And even better that I got to watch it first with my Mom and then again with my husband. I am so lucky to have both my Mom and my husband have the same political views I do! They are a relief among the madness that is UT....But I was behind a big ol' truck you would guess was for sure Republican...in fact, they had an Obama 2012 bumper sticker! Though, I do not approve of such a vehicle...maybe it is necessary for work...but way to go fellow Utahan! :) There are like-minded people around me after all! :)

Facts matter to me!!!
Joe Biden said, "Facts matter," in the VP debate...but does America care? BC I think this race is so close bc people don't seem to know the facts!!!! CHECK THE FACTS AMERICA! I am tired of debating false information...can't we debate the real facts? Click here for an article which spurred this post.
THis is why I would NEVER support such a man...
This article and the interview which I saw the first time it was said...has haunted me! This man must not have compassion...? Is that true? Can someone so seemingly devout Mormon not have compassion?! It is so hard to comprehend....so hard for me. And yet I can admit that I have trust issues...many people in my family, and people who were not blood relatives but which I considered family have taught me even good people can be very very cold and selfish. So because of my personal experiences that even people you once trust cannot always be trusted. I think Bro. Romney will have some time to really regret some of his actions over the course of this campaign...but that isn't for me to judge...my righteous judgement comes on Nov 6th when I vote for the man I see as the better suited to lead the free world. The man with compassion, backbone and strength of character and the man who has proven he is willing to negotiate with anyone who brings something to the table. I am not always happy with what the President has given into in order to meet the overall goal...but I understand that he does so for the greater good.
Would you vote for a man who says that people do not die in this country bc they can call an ambulance and "we will pay for it!?" Do you think A) that is being fiscally responsible to pay up to 4x's the amount of preventative care would have been or B) to say that "Well, if you are going to die...and only if you suffer until almost death...then sure, we will pay for the ambulance to take you to the hospital or ER."
We should be outraged...but many turn a blind eye to Bro. Romney's statements bc he is "a good man," and he is LDS.
We cannot justify what is discussed in this article...we simply cannot. Yet, if you think that healthcare is not the important distinction between the President and his running mate...than that is up to you. This is a free country.

On a side note...another "funny."
Completely wrong....heehee...It is so clear...how do people not see it? Or do they not see how Romney is and the campaign strategists are bc they JUST DON'T WANT TO SEE IT. Let's put "who should be President" aside for a moment. Can any Republicans/Romney and Ryan supporters admit that it is a calculated campaign strategy to say one thing to the people and then have someone from the campaign, Ryan or Romney himself say what the truth is...in almost a whisper after having shouted it as if it were truth to begin with!? Does that make sense or too confusing...I think Bill Maher said it best...yes, you heard me...Bill Maher: "'Let me tell you about the Mitt Romney I know' - too late, he's changed again." RIGHT?!

Biden pulls out a "W"---but he is disrespectful, and he has a white smile. (SMIRK)
I don't get the obsession with the "smiles" and the "smirks" during debates! WE ALL DO IT when we think we are right (or we want to convince television viewers we are right) SMIRK in a discussion or debate...am I right? (SMIRK). BTW I couldn't make a good smirk using punctuation or symbols...so I will spell it out. (SMIRK). I have to admit a near and dear loved one of mine was guilty of this same comment ...aagh-heemm-bryson...(SMIRK/WINK) but really....move past the smirks people! I kind of like the fact that my Republican friends and family were silent on fb or commented on the smirks and smiles and rudeness of Mr. Biden bc they could not comment on the fact that Mr. BIDEN OWNED THAT ONE! Yeah buddy! Whoa...I must've been holding that one in. SMIRK
He was passionate and spirited...all of which I did not fault Romney on...but all of which others have tried to fault our V.P. on. Funny. (SMIRK).
But on to another topic...
I am tired of the many comments including that I need to love our neighbors--implying Mr. Romney. I actually like the father Mr. Romney, the husband Mr. Romney....the missionary Mr.Romney...the BRO. Bro. Romney...but I do not support the ...P...rrrr...eeee--can't do it...I do not support Romney for President. I totally believe in loving one another...I pray for my enemies even...(I don't fast for them heehee---as in the Romney fast)...but I pray for them. I am not perfect and sometimes I get too worked up...but I honestly try hard not to offend others and to state my view matter-of-factually...I use humor often to soften the tone...I am tired of being told to "be nice" ONLY because I am not voting Romney/Ryan...not because I am in fact being mean. I was very MEAN during the Bush Jr years and said out of line names about him--always in private...but we live and learn, right? Maybe I have some Joe Biden in me...some fire and passion and it is hard to keep it restrained...but I like to think I restrain myself often. That doesn't mean I am perfect though...and I sincerely apologize to anyone I have offended with my political rantings...I don't take myself too seriously and I hope others don't either. I hope everyone will use their own brains and make their own decisions...but just as those same folk said the Pres/owner of Chik-fil-a can make a stance and say his opinion without deserving the backlash...I can, too. But I doubt others will set up a day of appreciation for me...and make me lots of profits for taking a stance....no...they won't. BC I support Barrack Obama the Fox News declared "Anti-Christ," the man who has "done nothing" who is "Muslim and supports extremists groups," our President who is often called "Obama"--even by me bc it is a fun name...but disdainfully by many others. I am a Mormon Democrat. Sue me. But don't call me or my fellow Mormon Democrats to repentance for something you might be ignorant of yourself. We are taught to study things out ourselves...to be involved with politics...to uphold a separation of church adn state and Pres Hinckley even stated..."we need good people in both parties." The irony to me is that we (Mormons for Obama) are all (mostly) really happy, comfortable and confident in our vote for the President...but many (NOT ALL) but many people tell us..."not on facebook," reminding me that I am SEPARATE but equal to my fellow Latter Day Saints. I am OK...if I don't share my political views...even if they loudly declare there's. What do I do to this? Do I cry out as if I am being discriminated against and victimized....? Do I harshly call out others for their blatant "2-facedness" ---well on that point sometimes (SMIRK)---but instead...I blog about it...enjoy...another political ranting...mostly written for myself...and most likely not viewed by others (SMIRK)...but I approve this message.

A recent email I thought I'd share...
My argument for voting Obama...again. Everything from abortion, lies, to Obamacare...in a nutshell:
Firstly, nobody is "pro abortion!" That is so ridiculous that people vote that way..."because I am pro life." I happen to think that should be left out of federal government jurisdiction. A woman's body should not be voted on by a bunch of judgmental men in other words. Of course I am all for babies, babies and more babies...I am all for adoption as a good path for women unable to take care of their unborn child. Fact is Romney's platform is against abortion even at risk of the mother and in cases of rape or incest. That is against the churches stance. But as far as lying...of course politicians "massage the truth"---"twist things," etc! But Romney makes out and out lies. We should all be upset about that. Not only that but he changes his mind constantly! In an attempt at dodging the "you are lying"stabs. How can you trust anything the man promises to do? ( I never trust the promises in campaigns...it is like HS class president stuff). Look at the track record....of the 2 candidates...I think that will tell you. (Clinton gave a great speech at the DNC about this). Obama had a congress who has shut down Obama's deficit reduction plans over and over...how do you expect it to work!? I think a lot of people criticize Obama's ineffectiveness..and "sure he has done good...but not good enough" and they say this without knowing the facts on how the system works. I think people are tired of hearing those 2 points (Congress isn't working for us, and we were in a mess in 2008 and are better off now)...but it is the truth and sometimes the truth is painful to hear bc it means someone isn't telling the truth and sometimes it reflects poorly back on the indivual.
Here are key things I felt needed to be pointed out once more:
Fact 1: Congress was taken over less than 2 years into Obama's Presidency and they said then and there they would not work with the President.
Fact 2: Obama has pushed things through and gotten things done and put us back where we need to be regardless of their efforts to diminish his fervor...it is a slow process---researching ACTUAL economists is helpful on this topic--even CNN has some good interviews on it.
Fact 3: We are still at war. No country is economically and fiscally sound at war and Romney wants more war and more money going to defense than the defense department has even asked for ($2 million more). Obama got us out of Iraq (a place we were not ready to go into to begin with, but he took care of it--cleaned up that mess), and he is getting us out of Afghanistan--where we should have been to begin with.
And, finally, just to point out a few facts--not things we can disagree on...but facts-- about the housing market/economy:
1. Suze Orman was brought up bc she said we were heading into a depression which we never reached bc ---EVERYONE agrees that people were given home loans who should not have been...Obama has said that a zillion times...that is why he is for regulation---the regulation missing during Bush years...which Romney would roll back.
2. Romney wanted the housing market to hit bottom and the car industry to fail (depending on which day and Romney you are referring..bc he has changed his mind--not sure which one he is at today). How would this benefit Americans quicker? Why not prevent rock bottom and have it become successful before 1 in 6 Ohioans lose their jobs...homes, etc and they have to spend years rebuilding? The car industry is better now than ever! Thanks to Obama...that is a fact. This is proof that Romney does not know how to run a country...only get rich off of failing businesses.
3. "Romney has experience with money...bc he is rich and a successful business man." (Not that you said that, but I have heard it) False. Romney is ruthless and driven by making the most money in his job...do you honestly think that is the only way to get our deficit back? (if in fact he is even able to eliminate programs---bc it has proven to be a hard thing to do with Congress men and women). Basically, in his previous job...he would let the company tank...then take over, fire everyone, and profit from it by selling it and moving on. Running the country is very different. Those people who will lose their jobs bc he cuts the government program, the PBS channel...whatever he plans to do (we don't know what that is)...will not let it go...they are the Americans he should worry about. On the contrary, Obama gives us a plan of continuing the road of cutting programs that are ineffective and lowering taxes on on those making less than $250,000...that way we receive income tax revenue from the 1% (those doing very well--who will not suffer bc of it) to put towards the deficit, or to pay for the government programs we need. We then become a more self sufficient country. (Not to mention green energy which Romney has implied he would cut entirely).
3. Romney's only job is not cutting the deficit....he needs to be diplomatic and have foreign policy background--he is very week in this area. He offended countries upon his visit to the Olympics, for example---the easiest place to be neutral and to be liked!
Top 3 reasons (keeping out specific policy) I vote for our President to keep his seat---in the most basic terms:
1. Foreign Policy: A President needs to gain respect from other countries. Obama is very respected--he gained that respect back after Bush. He makes tough defense decisions (got us out of Iraq...getting us out of Afghanistan, took out Bin Laden). Not all people and countries will like us bc we are free---that has always been the case. But we need a President who is strong and able to talk with all kinds of leaders around the world...and Romney will not be able to do that.
2. Healthcare: Health care reform is NECESSARY in this country...people only know about how devastating it is until it happens to them, and a sickness or cancer makes it so they can not receive medical plans in the future if they get cancer again. People top out of their policy and will lose their home, cars, everything bc of illnesses! Millions of Americans! The Affordable Care Act has helped thousands of people stay on their parents plan til they turn 26, they cannot be denied coverage bc of things like asthma...a pre-existing condition. So many areas it improves. It won't cut out the private insurance companies...we will stay on our current plan. It will just provide an option to those who are not given another option from their employment (other than the expensive COBRA). It will make insurers bring down their rates in order to be competitive. Basically healthcare is a monopoly and it is greedy and divisive and health care should be something everyone has the rights to, and everyone can afford...it should give people confidence that they can be healthy and live good lives and not have this burden. Even though you and I feel how expensive it is...we don't come close to those families and people who work hard and still cannot afford proper treatment for themselves or their children. What is Romney's idea for the country? Ambulances. If someone is so destitute and in such an emergency as ambulances are called for..."we will pay for that" Romney says...but that is 3-4 x's the cost it could be to provide preventative care for that individual. He knows that is wrong! That is why he had Mass develop their health care system!
3. Compassion: I touched on this before...but I am sorry nothing in the recent years tells me Romney is a compassionate leader. He has become driven by his party to say and do what they want and not what he knows he should do and is right. Obama has proven his compassion and I support him for that...bc it is a hard time to be a politician with a heart.

What is a "compassionate conservative?"
This article is so fascinating!!! It is so the story of liberals vs conservatives and dives into why we think the way we do. I have set up this blog, partly, in an attempt to understand my neighbors and friends...and it was not a fruitful attempt...I have heard the logic...but do not understand the depth. Very interesting read. I will include it in the articles to the right as well. Click HERE.

Bwahahaha. You have GOT to be kidding me!?
Another classic flip-flop...back pedaling....Click here, prepare to laugh! Oh, I take it back...I don't need Palin...Mr. Romney you are enough...not because you are not a smart man...but bc you try so hard to hide what you feel...and then when it is revealed you stand by it...until you can no longer stand by it...and you give in again. I don't get it!

And the winner is....
Well...not America bc we didn't get more facts...just different talking points....Mitt Romney now says that he has changed his tax plan from what it has been for the past 18 months....huh. Interesting thing to do 5 weeks before the election. Also Romney wants to cut funding to PBS! YES! We got him to tell us one program he is cutting....but does anyone else feel dissatisfied that Sesame Street and the most neutral news channel is his only target?
Romney did come out swinging and we as American's like blood! So he delivered...he didn't make contact with Obama, though...Obama cool and "Matrix-ly" dodged those punches in the calm and collected manner...Romney did make contact with the debate moderator, however.
According to the group of CNN voters...8 changed their votes to Romney after the debate...congratulations. And another 8 changed theirs to Obama. Huh...that doesn't much help. :) Most News channels say Romney wins the debate. I would concur. I feel like he came out chomping at the bit and ready to go. Obama, on the other hand, was trying to talk to people...not really debate with Romney. I like his personality, though. He is Presidential while Romney looked eager and agressive and almost fighting for his life...but it paid out tonight for Romney. After people view the fact checks, though....he will not be the one on top. Calculated by Obama? Most likely.
But either way....
Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs President!
On a side note: Who are these undecided voters? Have they been living under a rock? How do they not know yet!? haha. Too weird to me. But maybe they don't own a tv....or a computer...or a phone...maybe they aren't US citizens....did anyone check their birth certificates in Colorado before asking them to take the undecided polls? have you seen that Saturday Night Live skit? Perfect for this "side note." Click HERE.

A good reason why Romney should not be the "face of Mormons."
I want to thank a fellow "Mormon for Obama" for the illustration below...and I would like to also thank the artist for the comic strip!

Should I throw up now...or...later?
At least Romney doesn't make me physically sick like this guy! UGH! Even the Osmonds don't make me want to barf or even go on to deny that I am in the same church as this doofus! (Spelling? I have never used that word written or otherwise to describe someone...but I could use worse words). If less people listened to this guy and listened less to Rush Limbaugh...we would be a better society. Glenn Beck to me is the example of modern-day Gadiantan robbers--minus all the killing and though he would probably love it...he will not ever be a part of our government, which his presence would make it more corrupt than it already is. Is that too harsh? Maybe. But just like the Gadiantan robbers in the BOM he uses scripture and his ability to speak in public to boast himself up. That would bring unto himself wealth and fame. It is wrong. I am ashamed he is LDS. The Osmonds have always been respectful about our religion. Marie Osmond on Pierce Morgan the other night (was it last night?) remained neutral about politics...and would not say who she was voting for this election. She did however testify of Christ and say that she is a Christian, believes in the bible and she stated the church was neutral and we all must vote for who we think is the right man. I respect Marie Osmond for that interview. Click here for the interview with Marie Osmond. Marie Osmond has always been a performer...but now she is starting a talk show in which she will be the host. She is in the same business as Glenn Beck...and yet she has taken a much higher road than Beck and his Beck-isms...as they have become known. I think he wishes he was an evangelist! I know this has nothing to do with Romney other than Beck saying Romney isn't his first choice, but Romney is God's choice :) ...I want to be clear that I see these 2 men differently! I think Romney is making some shady decisions in an ugly campaign...but he is a business man and he does what he has to do if he thinks it reaches the end goal. Glenn Beck is just arrogant and deceitful and uses the church as a step-stool or soapbox to deceit more people.
On behalf of all civil, logical, strong members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints...I am sorry Romney, America and the world...for Glenn Beck and his thoughts on what our religion is. Romney is not behind in the polls bc that is God's will in showing the people that Romney is foreordained to win the election...it is simply false.
Click here for the video of Glenn Beck...if you dare.
Click here for the whole interview....if you DARE. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! NO LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY!

Who is getting excited???!! I AM!
Debates this WED!!! Should be clean family fun...well...should be fun anyway! I really don't know what to expect bc Obama has "not had time" as leader of the free world to prepare--I am sure he has, though, somewhat...and yet, he is much better at this...or any confrontation type...so it should be interesting. I don't however expect it to be some monumental event. I just hope some facts are thrown around along with the...well, you know...other stuff.
The funnies keep coming...
I don't know if you have heard about it....but there were mass emails sent out to Fast for Romney---for him to do well in the debates (was my understanding). Of course this makes myself and all Mormon Democrats laugh! It is like fasting for the BYU game, in my opinion...bc the debates have never determined a President election...but they have kept people from getting votes...meaning if you epically fail a debate and say something outrageous it can hurt you...but if you win a debate...it does not mean you will become President. I think Heavenly Father definitely cares who is our President...but he also gave us agency and expects us to vote for the right man. We must each study it out, research it and fast and pray for what our vote might be...but to fast and pray for a candidate to do well in a debate bc he too is Mormon....that is funny! Thank you Salt Lake Tribune.
